The Suunto Vertical 2 multisport watch features a large and bright LTPO AMOLED touchscreen display, an upgraded optical heart rate monitor and a built-in LED flashlight. For navigation, it uses dual-band GPS with free detailed offline maps. The battery will run for 65 hours in dual-band GNSS GPS mode and for 20 days with normal use. Thanks to the use of stainless steel, the watch body is robust and waterproof to a depth of 100 metres.
Display, heart rate monitor and body
The LTPO AMOLED display is larger and brighter than on the Suunto Vertical, which improves readability in both bright and low light. The redesigned back sits flatter against the wrist, allowing the optical heart rate sensor to make better contact and increasing the accuracy of blood oxygen measurements and HRV data. The body of the Vertical 2 is made of stainless steel and, therefore, lightweight, durable and very sturdy. It is also waterproof up to 100 metres and has a built-in LED flashlight for better visibility in the dark. The buttons can also be operated while wearing gloves.
Navigation and battery life
The dual-band GPS works in conjunction with free, high-detail offline maps. Climb Guidance helps with climbing by providing advance insight into elevation, gradient and terrain. Sport-specific heatmaps show where other users are cycling or running. The battery lasts for 65 hours in the most accurate GPS mode (multi-band), 250 hours in tour mode with lower GPS accuracy and heart rate monitoring switched off, and 20 days with daily use and heart rate monitoring switched on. Without heart rate monitoring, this even increases to 30 days.
Sport modes, training and compatibility
The Vertical 2 adventure watch supports over 115 sport modes, from trail running and backcountry skiing to mountain biking and swimming. Training Zone and Suunto Coach analyse sessions and customise coaching based on your measured progress. Sleep tracking and HRV measurement are built in for recovery monitoring. The watch works with over 300 partner platforms, including Strava and Komoot.
